Arthur Pfeiffer
The Rev. Arthur Pfeiffer was born in Łódź, Poland, on August 18, 1897. He took religious training in 1925/26 at the Lutheran seminary in Petrograd (currently St. Petersburg) and served the Volga German parish of Yagodnaya-Polyana from 1929-1934. He was arrested in 1934 during Stalin's Great Terror, along with his brother, the Rev. Emil Pfeiffer, and banished to Alma Ata (currently Almaty, Kazakhstan). Unlike his brother Emil, Arthur survived his exile.
