Fastnacht
Fastnacht (in English known as Shrove Tuesday) is the day preceding Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.
The day started early with baking large quantities of pastries such as Krebble, which are eaten at lunch with Schnitzsuppe (sweet fruit soup), at 4:00 in the afternoon with coffee, and in the evening with sausage and ham.
There were no special celebrations in the village or at the church on Fastnacht.
