Lukas Cattaneo
Lukas Cattaneo, son of Pastor Johann Baptist Cattaneo and Barbara Johanna Thomas, was born in Norka on October 30, 1787. Cattaneo studied theology in Dorpat from 1805 to 1808. He married Anna Dorothea Grieffenhagen in 1810. Cattaneo served the parish in Astrakhan from 1809-1811. Cattaneo then assisted his father in the colony of Norka from 1817 to 1821. From 1821 to 1828, he served in Beideck. From 1823 to 1827, he became the Probst of the Wolga Bergseite (west side Volga colonies). Rev. Cattaneo's health began to fail, and he returned to Norka in February 1828 and remained there with his father until his death from tuberculosis on December 21st of that year.
