Eberling Families
In 1766, two Eberling families from Büdingen decided to accept the offer described in Catherine's Manifesto and migrate to Russia. These families sailed with other colonists from the north German port of Lübeck and arrived in Oranienbaum, Russia. Büdingen was one of the major recruiting centers for colonists migrating to Russia.
Over a year later, the Eberlings's were among the founders who arrived in Norka in August and September of 1767.
Heinrich Carl and Appolonia are recorded as part of the 1767 Census in Household No. 206, and Johannes and Katharina are recorded in Household No. 188.
Heinrich Carl and Appolonia Eberling had five children, all baptized on the following dates in Büdingen: twins Johannes and Johann Joachim, July 21, 1743; Johanna Catharina, December 19, 1745; Johann Georg, February 4, 1748; and Eva Elisabetha Justine, September 8, 1751. Heinrich Carl, Appolonia, Anna, Johann Georg, and Justina arrived in Russia on September 14, 1766 and in Norka on September 2, 1767. It is not clear if their daughter Anna survived the trip, but the other four family members are reported in the 1767 Census.
According to the Büdingen marriage records, Johannes Eberling of Büdingen and Johanetta Katharina Weber of Wenings were married on May 24, 1766. Johanetta Katharina Weber, the daughter of Johann Heinrich Weber, was baptized in Wenings on March 9, 1743. This couple arrived in Oranienbaum, Russia on August 29, 1766 and in Norka on August 26, 1767.
