Johann Georg Hölzer was born on December 1, 1856, the son of Adam Hölzer (born 1818) and Catharina Maria Wolf (born 1824).
On December 27, 1876, Johann Georg married Elisabeth Huck. She was born October 13, 1857 in the colony of Huck. They had at least 11 children. Two daughters immigrated to the United States and settled in Oregon. Anna Maria (born May 30, 1882) married Johann Georg Henkel on March 1, 1905. They arrived at Baltimore in 1907. Magdalena (born December 8, 1888) arrived at Portland, Maine in 1906. She married Georg Philipp Schnell in Portland, Oregon in 1910.
