Johann Heinrich Schnell
Johann Heinrich Schnell was born on November 19, 1794, in Norka, the son of Johannes Schnell (1774-1849) and Margaretha Eusel (1775-1823). He was confirmed in Norka in 1806 by pastor Johannes Baptista Cattaneo.
Johann Heinrich married Catharina Sauer (1794-1858) on February 27, 1813. This marriage was blessed with 10 children.
Johann Heinrich served as a school teacher in the colonies of Norka, Stephan, and Köhler. His work was vital in providing basic education to the colonist's children. It seems likely that pastor Cattaneo was instrumental in training Johann Heinrich for this role. In 1852, he moved to Neu-Norka and served as the first Schulmeister (schoolmaster) in that daughter colony. Johann Heinrich died in 1855 in Neu-Norka.
