Johannes and Anna Euler
Johannes Euler (Eiler), the son of Adam and Anna Margaretha Euler, was baptized on December 18, 1727 in Eckartshausen. Johannes had a son, Johann Heinrich, who was baptized in Eckartshausen on January 7, 1751. The mother of Johann Heinrich was probably Johanne's first wife (name unknown). Prior to 1766, Johannes married Anna, (born about 1737, family name unknown).
Johannes and Anna accepted the offer described in Catherine's Manifesto and soon sailed with other colonists from the north German port of Lübeck aboard the Russian ship “Slon” (Elephant). They arrived in Oranienbaum, Russia on August 9, 1766 with many other households that settled in Norka one year later.
Johannes, Anna, and Johann Heinrich were among the founders who arrived in Norka on August 15, 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census as Household No. 86. Living in the same household is an adopted daughter, Elisabeth Schifrit, the daughter of the deceased Caspar Schifrit, who probably died enroute to the settlement area.
