Dinges
Johann Heinrich Dinges (Tonges) was born on March 30, 1744 in Niedergründau. His parents were Heinrich Tonges and Anna Margaretha Ruhn. Johann Heinrich married Maria Elisabeth Scharch on January 30, 1766, in Hirzenhain. Both Niedergründau and Hirzenhain were part of the county of Isenburg at the time. Maria Elisabeth, the daughter of Johann Georg Scharch, was baptized in Hirzenhain on June 30, 1746. About six months later, they emigrated to Russia and were named as passengers on the English ship “Love and Unity,” which sailed from Lübeck and arrived at Kronstadt, Russia, on June 9, 1766. Heinrich and Maria Elisabeth arrived in the colony of Moor eleven months later, on June 18, 1767. The family is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60.
Johann Heinrich's younger brother Johann Georg (born June 12, 1747) and their mother Anna Margaretha (born about 1708) are listed in Household No. 64 on the Moor 1767 census.
An older brother, Johannes (born October 9, 1735), his wife Louisa, and their infant son Ernst Heinrich are listed as living in Norka on the 1767 census in Household No. 164.
Johannes, Louisa, Johann Georg, and Anna Margaretha arrived together in Russia on July 19, 1766, aboard the Russian ship "Kargopol," and are shown on the passenger list under the name "Tenges?" in Igor Pleve's translation.
Heinrich Dinges and Anna Elisabeth Scharch lived in Moor during the 1798 Census in Household No. 2. Johann George Dinges relocated to Norka and is reported there on the 1798 Census in Household No. 101.
Johannes Dinges and Louisa Kern continued living in Norka and were reported there on the 1798 Census in Household No. 181. According to Rev. Cattaneo, in 1784, Johannes was involved in a controversy in Norka involving the Moravian (Herrnhut) Brethren and those opposed to them.
