Johann Philipp Sinner
Johann Philipp Sinner was born in Norka on May 8, 1840, the son of Adam Sinner (born 1808) and Anna Maria Eckhardt (born 1811 in Huck).
Johann Philipp married Amalia Hergenreder on February 7, 1868 in Norka. She was born on March 7, 1844, in Kukkus.
Johann Philipp was commonly known as Peter, according to Conrad Brill. This may have been to reduce confusion with his son, Philipp.
Peter Sinner operated the largest mill in Norka and other mills in the surrounding area. He was said to be one of the largest employers in Norka in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The mill was destroyed sometime after the Bolshevik Revolution.
Peter's son, Philipp (born 1874), operated one of the Sinner family mills in Goshgoverna on the Medveditsa River, east of Norka.
Peter's son, Alexander (born 1879), was killed by the Bolsheviks for his role in forming a village militia to fight Russians who were attempting to seize Norka lands during the Russian Revolution and Civil War. Alexander had served in the Czar's military.
Peter's daughter, Amalia (Molly), was born in 1872. She married Johann Jacob Steiben from Bauer. In 1912, they migrated to the United States and settled in Portland, Oregon.
