Schwartz
Johann Traugott Schwartz was born about 1738 in Saxony. Johann Traugott married Anna Catharina Trüber on February 25, 1766 in Wolf, Büdingen, Hessen, Germany. Anna Catharina was born on November 21, 1738 in Wolf. She is a cousin of Martin Trüber who also became a Russian colonist.
Johann Traugott and Anna Catharina made a decision to migrate to Russia in 1766. They arrived in Oranienbaum (now Lomonosov) as public colonists on July 28, 1766. Johann Traugott and Anna Catharina had sailed from Lübeck aboard the Russian ship "Vologda" commanded by Sergey Bartenyev. They were listed as Lutherans and Johann Traugott stated that he worked as a cooper.
On August 15, 1767, the couple arrived in the colony of Norka with a son, Johann Heinrich, who was about 9 months old. The Schwartz family is listed as household number 161 in the 1767 census of Norka.
